Gladys Hokanson, RN, BN, OHN

Health & Wellness Manager, Hines Health Services Inc.

Gladys Hokanson is a distinguished health and wellness professional, renowned for her dedication to occupational health and leadership.

Gladys has devoted over two decades to the practice of occupational health in Fort McMurray, where her contributions have made a significant impact on the well-being of the workforce.

Prior to joining Hines Health Services, Gladys held the role of Health Services Area Leader at Syncrude, one of Alberta’s largest and most influential energy companies.  Together with the Chief Medical Officer, she ensured the reliable delivery of medical, health, and wellness services to everyone in the organization. She was a key contributor to Syncrude’s Covid Response Team, and successfully led a team of nurses and industrial hygienists.

Prior to her time in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB), she gained extensive experience in emergency and acute care, settings that demand quick thinking and adaptability. This diverse background has enabled her to develop a comprehensive approach to occupational health with strong clinical assessment skills, leading to management of workplace related injuries and illnesses, while encompassing prevention and education.

Gladys graduated as a Registered Nurse from Red River Community College.  She has a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Manitoba and an Occupational Health Nurse Diploma from Saint Lawrence College.

Gladys completed the Harvard Business School In-Residence Executive Leadership Program. This advanced training has equipped her with the strategic leadership skills necessary to navigate the complex landscape of the health and wellness sector.
