Hines Health Services – Awarded Public Health Agency of Canada Contract

Hines Health Services (HHS) is pleased to announce that it has been selected through a competitive bid process to provide nursing services in Alberta for travellers returning from outside of Canada who are housed in a Quarantine Site and placed under quarantine order by the Government of Canada. The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) requires nursing services and health assessments to support its onsite health operations team.

On March 25, 2020, the Government of Canada invoked the Quarantine Act which gives the Minister of Health the power to screen travellers entering and exiting Canada who may have a communicable disease, to set-up designated quarantine zones, and to fine and jail travellers who refuse to comply with the instructions of screening or Quarantine Officers under the Act. Through its mandate to prevent and control infection, PHAC has established Quarantine Sites at various hotels and facilities across Canada.

Hines Health Services’ Registered Nurses (RNs) will provide nursing services such as conducting health assessment checks on travellers, at Quarantine Sites and at the identified Alberta airports (Calgary and Edmonton) and border point of entry (Coutts, Alberta), to prevent and limit the spread of COVID-19.

“It’s a great honour for Hines Health Services to be chosen to provide these critical health services and to partner with the Government of Canada at entry points in Alberta,” said Kristi Hines, Founder & Director of Hines Health Services. “Comprehensive nursing health assessments of the physical, emotional and mental health of clients are regularly performed by Hines Health
Services (HHS). HHS has been performing such assessments since 2012 and ensuring that employees are “Fit for Duty” to work in safety sensitive positions.”

HHS has screened over 1,000 people for COVID-19 at its head office in Fort McMurray, and conducted over 42,000 screens for COVI9-19 at client sites. HHS has developed policies and procedures in accordance with the Governments of Canada and Alberta Health Services guidelines.

Hines added: “We are proud of our Fort McMurray, Alberta roots and thankful for the opportunities we’ve had to build our experience alongside the country’s largest operators in Canada’s oil sands industry.”
