Back Assessments

Back Assessments

Low back pain is very common and can cause extreme pain as well as great discomfort while executing your daily activities. Low back pain is one of the top 10 reasons patients seek care from a family physician. Most severe and common cases fall in the group between 45 and 60 years of age, although back pain is also reported by adolescents and by adults of all ages.

Employers have a legal obligation to protect  the health and safety any employee whose labor might cause health issues. This should be the number one priority of all employers.

Back pain is more common in occupational roles that involve:

  • Cold temperature
  • Excessive force
  • Vibration
  • Posture
  • Maintaining the same position for long periods of time
  • Repetitive manual tasks

Risk assessment is a 4 stage process and involves:

  • Looking for hazards
  • Determining  who might be harmed
  • Evaluating the risks and deciding whether the existing precautions are adequate
  • reviewing your assessment and revising it
